A Donation To PorchlightAt the Kent Masonic Museum in Canterbury on the 13th of January 2026 E.Kt. Robyn Mudo-Smith and E.Kt. Russell Spendley, the reigning Eminent Preceptor of Black Prince Preceptory No.146, invited Miriam Oliver of the Local homeless Charity Porchlight to receive a donation of £250 from the members Black Prince Preceptory No.146.

Russell were dressed in Knight Templar Regalia to demonstrate the giving of Dole an ancient charitable donation of giving bread and wine to the poor and homeless of the parish by the resident Monks. E.Kt. Robyn and E.Kt. Russell offered Soda bread and Black Prince bottled Potter beer to Miriam as ancient Warrior Monks would have given to the Poor Pilgrims travelling during the Crusades on their Pilgrimages to the Holy Land.

Taking Dole
Miriam with her Bread and BeerAll present gratefully accepted the Dole offering and shared the Bread and Beer. E.Kt. Russell then gave a short talk on the history of the Black Prince Preceptory linking it in with the still existing Dole being offered at The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty in Winchester that Hospital (the word denotes Hospitality) has stood in its present position since it was founded in 1130 by French Monk and nobleman Henri de Blos Grandson of William the Conqueror.
